How to find a summer meal site in Vermont
Between school getting out and the frequency of 70-degree days, it’s quickly becoming summer in Vermont. But did you know that summer can be the hungriest time of year for children? That’s where summer meals come in!
All children ages 0-18 can eat summer meals for free in the state. There’s no paperwork, no registration, and no I.D. needed! Summer meals can be found at libraries, parks, pools, churches, camps, schools, and more.
This year, we’re making it easier than ever to find your nearest summer meal site. We’ve launched a new map tool that we’ll be updating all summer long. If you want more information on a specific site or just prefer a spreadsheet, we’ll keep a document updated, too.
Last year, kids throughout Vermont enjoyed more than 1.5 million summer meals! These meals help nourish children, reduce pressure on household resources, bring federal dollars into local communities, attract youth to safe spaces, support kids returning to school ready to learn, and so much more!
If you want to help promote summer meals in your own community, you can use our free printable outreach materials. Thanks to our friends at the Vermont Language Justice Project, you can also find translated summer meals videos here.
