What do you believe is the role of state government, if any, in ensuring that everyone living in Vermont has the food they need to thrive?
State government, in general, has the responsibility to insure basic human needs are met for food security, safety, housing, education and health care.
What would be your policy priorities to move Vermont toward food security for all?
My record shows that I’ve fully support the “tapestry of investments” needed to meet basic food security needs. I have particular interest in food security for older Vermonters.
What do you believe are the root causes of hunger, and what should the state do to address those underlying factors?
A complicated question — there are many reasons that impact all of these issues. One of the biggest is the growing wealth gap in this country.
How would you help strengthen the state’s agriculture and food economy to ensure Vermont farms can continue to grow the food we all need?
I will continue to support farm programs that benefit food production.
