Sophie Springer
3SquaresVT (SNAP) Specialistsspringer@hungerfreevt.orgSophie (she/her) is the 3SquaresVT (SNAP) Specialist at Hunger Free Vermont. She facilitates 3SquaresVT education and training initiatives, providing opportunities to train community-based and statewide organizations on both program policy and application assistance best practices. Sophie also collaborates with her colleagues at Hunger Free Vermont on outreach efforts to Vermonters that highlight the efficacy and dignity of SNAP.
Sophie grew up in Maryland, and stayed in the Mid-Atlantic region for college and an AmeriCorps service term, studying Sustainability and Food Systems at Bucknell University, and serving as a Literacy Tutor in a Pre-K classroom in DC, respectively. Sophie moved to Vermont in 2022 to pursue her Master's Degree, graduating from the Food Systems program at UVM in 2024. Since moving to Vermont, Sophie has become deeply involved in local food access and education, both in her professional and personal life.
Through her varied academic, professional, and personal experience, Sophie has developed a profound care for people and the environment, and understands food as a deeply emotional leverage point to enact larger social change. Sophie is incredibly grateful to be working alongside her dedicated colleagues in their efforts to ensure all Vermonters have access to the food they need and deserve. Outside of the office she loves to garden, read, bake, and enjoy the outdoors in all four seasons!
