What do you believe is the role of state government, if any, in ensuring that everyone living in Vermont has the food they need to thrive?
The government should play a major role in providing the necessary help for those folks that do not have the means to provide themselves or their family with food. There is reasonable explanation as to why any child in the US should be hungry.
What would be your policy priorities to move Vermont toward food security for all?
Find a sustainable solutions to avoid the waste. Ugly eatable produce distribution. free classes lead by volunteers to teach how to cook, avoid waste and freeze foods that are nutritious rather than the high caloric cheaper food that purchased. ie: a roasted chicken can be stretched to make a dinner for 3, chicken salad and chicken soup rather than throwing the caucus in the trash
What do you believe are the root causes of hunger, and what should the state do to address those underlying factors?
housing, heating fuel and housing carrying costs, healthcare are not sustainable.
