What do you believe is the role of state government, if any, in ensuring that everyone living in Vermont has the food they need to thrive?
Given federal cutbacks to SNAP during the current administration, state government needs to supplement the provision of food security, now more than ever.
What would be your policy priorities to move Vermont toward food security for all?
Open access to free school breakfast and lunch during the school year, with availability during the summer, prioritizing farm to plate programs that support Vermont farms and provide needed nutrition.
What do you believe are the root causes of hunger, and what should the state do to address those underlying factors?
The underlying causes relate to general affordability challenges in this current economy, resulting in food insecurity when people are unable to meet their other basic needs. Providing food needs to be the top priority.
