2025 Federal Government Shutdown: Updates on 3SquaresVT Benefits

Last Updated: 11/13/25, 2pm

November 13th Update:

Last night, Congress ended the longest government shutdown in the history of our country by passing a funding bill. That means that SNAP is fully funded for the year, through September 30, 2026. Last night, USDA said they would work swiftly with all states to issue full November 3SquaresVT benefits.

Full November 3SquaresVT benefits will go out starting November 14th.

  • If you usually get 3SquaresVT benefits on your EBT Card, you will get that as you usually would tomorrow, November 14th.

  • If you usually get 3SquaresVT benefits as direct deposit, you will get that as you usually would on Monday, November 17th. This is because of banking schedules over the weekend.

Everyone will get 100% of their full monthly 3SquaresVT benefits, regardless of the fact that the state stepped in to support folks for the first half of November in a moment of extreme uncertainty. So, if you usually get $200 a month, you can expect to get $200 on your EBT Card tomorrow (Friday, November 14), or direct deposit on Monday (November 17th).

We thank every member of the Joint Fiscal Committee and Vermont Emergency Board for their tremendous leadership over the last several weeks. The decision made in October by Vermont state leaders to use State contingency funds to replace Vermonters’ 3SquaresVT benefits in full for the first half of November and DCF's swift action to get the systems and data into place was the right and necessary thing to do.

And to the hundreds of voluntary community efforts and the network of overstretched charitable food providers who came together to bridge the benefits gap–thank you all as well. Our communities are stronger as a whole when we all have what we need to meet our basic needs, and to be well.
