The Hunger Council of the Windham Region
Out of School Time Sub-Committee
The Out of School Time Sub-Committee is focused on ensuring that children have access to food throughout the year, particularly when school is not in session. These resources are to help schools and communities promote these food resources right before school breaks- please feel free to personalize them for your school community.
Below are some resources that the Hunger Council of the Windham Region sub-committee has developed to help families and schools navigate the many food resources available to them, including food shelves, community meals, food drops, and more. Many of these resources are available year-round; some have specific eligibility requirements.
- Windham Region Food Resource Map - A map of a range of food resources (embedded below)
- Food Resources in the Windham Region - A list of a range of food resources
The Map and List are meant to complement each other. Any updates to the map and list of resources should be sent to Molly McNamee, AmeriCorps VISTA at the United Way of Windham County (firstname.lastname@example.org)
- Sample Outreach Language for Schools to Use Prior to Breaks - resources for schools to communicate with their families
The information in both the map and list are largely from Vermont 2-1-1, which maintains the most up-to-date and extensive database of resources in the state. Vermont 2-1-1 has a free call center (just dial 211) and an online database to be connected with a wide range of resources in your area.
