Summer Meals Location & Transportation
Location and transportation are a critical part of your summer success strategy. Do your best to locate meal sites where kids are already hanging out in the summer, such as at a community pool, park, sports facility, summer program or in a dense neighborhood or mobile home park. Choose sites that are easy to access. Rural sites do best when there is transportation available for participants.
If your area school has at least half of its students qualifying for free/reduced meals, the entire town is eligible to run as a meal site. However, census data can also be used to determine site eligibility. Use the FRAC Summer Food Mapper to determine where in your community meals can be served.
