Sabina is an AmeriCorps Vista, serving as Hunger Free Vermont’s Communication Coordinator. In this role, Sabina is working to create a new Nutrition Education Hub, an online resource for schools, community groups, and others interested in bringing Nutrition Education to their communities. Sabina believes nutrition education is a crucial step to address Food Insecurity and is excited to create a publicly-accessible resource library filled with high-quality nutrition education resources.
Sabina first arrived in the Green Mountain State in college to attend the University of Vermont. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Food Systems, with a concentration in International and Community Development, and a minor in Environmental Studies. During her time as an undergraduate, Sabina worked with a variety of different non-profits including the Real Food Challenge and Vermont Community Garden Network, supporting their efforts to create a more sustainable and equitable food system, across the state and beyond. Sabina is grateful to be a part of such a dedicated, dynamic, and motivated team working to end the injustice of hunger in Vermont.
Immediately before joining Hunger Free Vermont, Sabina found herself working in marketing and digital communications for a local food producer in Vermont. Sabina continues to provide freelance marketing services to small mission-driven businesses in her free time. She strongly believes effective communications can be a key factor in driving a non-profit’s organizational mission and looks forward to working with the Food Security and Child Nutrition Initiatives team to bolster communications of their respective program areas. She lives in the O.N.E. of Burlington with her beloved rescue pup and 4 chickens!
