Sabiha is an AmeriCorps VISTA member serving as Hunger Free Vermont’s Nutrition Education and Direct Market Outreach Coordinator. Through this role she coordinates statewide activities for enhancing food security in Vermont through the development and implementation of The Learning Kitchen. During her year of service, she will also develop and execute a sustainable outreach program to help more SNAP participants use their benefits to access fresh, local food, and participate in related program evaluation analysis and development.
Sabiha was born and raised in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from University of Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. After university she decided to dedicate her life to humanitarian work and non-formal education. Over the course of her career she has worked with a range of vulnerable populations all around Europe. She speaks English, Spanish, and Bosnian languages. With a strong belief that each of us can make a change, she is more than excited to improve lives of Vermonters.
Her life in USA started in May 2017. In her free time, she is volunteering in her new community and enjoying Vermont and all of its beauty.
