Take Action to Protect SNAP

Join the second Northeast Regional Day of Action – Wednesday, June 25th

Congress is considering devastating cuts to SNAP that would increase hunger, and weaken our economy and food systems—harming not only individuals who rely on SNAP, but our farmers, grocers, and businesses.

It’s critical that Northeast states speak out together, loud and clear!

What’s happening?

  • Congress is trying to pass cuts to SNAP, Medicaid, and other programs to fund tax breaks for billionaires through what’s called “Budget Reconciliation,” which allows Congress to fast-track tax/budget-related legislation.

  • In May, the House narrowly passed their bill with proposals to cut SNAP & Medicaid by more than $1 trillion.

  • The bill is in the Senate, and the proposal released in June is fundamentally similar to what the House proposed but several Republican Senators are signaling concerns as they prepare to bring it to the floor in early July.

What’s our goal?

We need to make sure the Senate does not pass their bill, with devastating proposals to basic needs programs. We need to kill the bill. Congress wants to pass something by 7/4, so now is the time!
