Adult Nutrition Initiatives Specialist
Katie is the Adult Nutrition Initiatives Specialist at Hunger Free Vermont. She does outreach and training for programs that feed Vermont families, seniors, and individuals. Katie works collaboratively with federal, state, and community partners to address barriers to participation, increase access, ensure sustainability, and counter stigma so that all Vermonters, especially the most vulnerable, take part in all the programs for which they may be eligible.
Prior to joining Hunger Free Vermont, Katie worked in higher education admissions and served as a volunteer for GardenShare, a non-profit organization in Upstate New York fighting to end hunger by strengthening the local food system.
Katie received her B.A. in Government and Philosophy from St. Lawrence University. As a student, she completed an honors thesis on the link between federal nutrition policy and food insecurity, hunger, and the obesity epidemic. She has a strong interest in health and nutrition and ending hunger by using a systemic and holistic approach. She recently relocated to Burlington and is thrilled to be working with such a supportive, passionate, and innovative team to end hunger and malnutrition in the state of Vermont.
