If you are approved for 3SquaresVT benefits you will receive notices and forms during your certification period. You must respond before the deadline to keep receiving benefits.

Most households will be certified for one year. Some households may be certified for 6 months or two years. Your approval notice will tell you how long you are certified to receive benefits.

Report Changes

Did you move? Did your income or housing costs change? Has anyone joined or left your household? If your income goes down, or your expenses go up, report these changes to DCF. You may be able to get more benefits. There are some changes that you must report within 10 days. Click here to learn what you must report and how to report changes.

Interim Report

All 3SquaresVT households certified for 12 months or more get an interim report halfway through their certification period. This short form will ask if any of your information has changed since applying. At this time you can report any changes, including changes to your medical expenses if you are disabled or age 60 or older. The form must be returned to Economic Services before the deadline or benefits will stop. There is no interview at this time.

Recertification

At the end of your certification period, you must recertify to continue receiving benefits. You will receive a notice and new application by mail six weeks before your benefits are due to end. You will need to complete a new application. After you mail in your completed application, you will be contacted about an interview. You will also need to send in some documentation, but not all of the documentation that was needed at initial application. The worker will tell you what documentation you need during the interview.

Important Note: Send in the completed application as soon as you can. If you do not return your recertification forms by the 15th of the last month of your certification period, your benefits may be stopped.
