As a Child Nutrition Advocate, Amanda coordinates Hunger Free Vermont’s statewide effort to ensure Vermont children have access to good nutrition and enrichment activities during the summer. Amanda’s role is to support schools, community organizations, food service providers and citizen volunteers in their efforts to nourish kids by providing technical assistance, outreach, training and program support.
Before joining Hunger Free Vermont in September 2011, Amanda worked with communities in the Canadian Arctic to tackle the challenges of climate change, including severe food insecurity. She saw firsthand the diverse factors that contribute to hunger and the many ways it hurts families and children.
